Fort Lauderdale Preparatory School Receives Reaccreditation from SACS Review
Committee provides glowing report of FLPS

Ft. Lauderdale, FL
(May 19, 2010) Fort Lauderdale Preparatory School, a private Pre-K thru 12th academy located at 3275 W. Oakland Park Boulevard, announced today that they have been reaccredited for another five years by the esteemed Southern Association of Colleges and School (SACS).

Fort Lauderdale Preparatory School (FLPS) has been quietly serving a small and
diverse population of students for more than thirty years. The school is family
owned and operated, and provides students with a nurturing yet stimulating
academic environment that creates enthusiasm for learning as a lifelong pursuit.

The nine page accreditation report from SACS provided several glowing reviews of FLPS,
particularly focusing on the school’s attention to its individual students: “The
philosophy of the school is evident in the words of everyone on the staff. The
focus is on the development of the individual and extra care is made to treat
everyone as an individual. Individual attention, love and kindness, caring and
support are the key ingredients of what happens in this school, and they are
obvious in the dedication of the director, administration and staff, as well.”

Founded in 1895, SACS accredits over 13,000 schools and school systems
throughout the United States and overseas. SACS’s mission is the improvement of
education in the South through accreditation. The accreditation process engages
the entire school community in a continuous process of self-evaluation,
reflection, and improvement. SACS assures that its’ schools have qualified
teachers who are continually working to improve their practices and teaching
methods, access to a rich curriculum and range of student activities,
transferability of credits from school to school, and greater access to
scholarships and federal loans.

FLPS, which puts an emphasis on students’ individual needs, has an eclectic curriculum
that meets the varying needs of the children while maintaining standards
commensurate with a college preparatory curriculum. Furthermore, children are
moved to levels of instruction that will meet their current situation and
special classes and programs are instituted whenever the need arises.

Fort Lauderdale Preparatory School (FLPS) is a nationally recognized institution
serving Pre-K through 12th grade and is accredited by SACS, NIPSA, and CITA.
FLPS students receive a college prep, classical, liberal arts education,
designed to fit individual needs and learning behaviors. FLPS is small by design
and has been educating South Florida students for more than thirty years. The
school accepts a variety of scholarships including McKay, Step Up for Students,
VPK and Family Central, and also offers their own in-house assistance to
students in need. The school’s philosophy includes helping young people to
develop self-discipline, love of learning, and service to others.
