Lauderdale Preparatory Schools’ Teaching and Learning Center helps
pre-school youngsters to acquire a sense of security, self control, self
awareness and the skills of self expression and social interaction. The
primary developmental function of three and four year olds is
socialization. We help these students adapt comfortably to cooperative
play and develop the ability to learn to understand and to interact
appropriately in a group setting.
We believe in the theory that “play is the child’s natural way of
learning” and that “learning is the product of good teaching.” |
We promote the desire and motivation to learn and teach critical skills
essential for the primary school. Throughout the school day we balance
both active and passive (quiet) activities such as art, music, drama,
story-time and physical education.
All of our programs are based on the premise that children develop at
different rates and that learning should be geared to accommodate these
differences. These are the critical formative years when intelligence is
developed and children learn through guided exploration, self discovery
and sensory utilization. |
